 Mission Statement

The mission of Freedom Gate Ministries is to provide Christian “Aftercare” support for ex-prisoners. This support would not only include food, clothing, and shelter but also a “constant care” environment where the ex-prisoner would receive practical counseling in all area’s of life in order to become a responsible neighbor in the community.

Ramon Robles  Letter from Junior Oriol

Hi, my name is Ramon Robles. I was incarcerated for making threats, but I thank God for giving me an
opportunity to be in Freedom Gate. I never knew how great God is until one day I asked for forgiveness. I was doing one-on-one with a Chaplain and I just let everything out. I asked God to save me and to take my burdens (Matthew 11:28-30). I was soaked with tears but my soul was relieved. Since then I’ve kept asking God for strength, knowledge and wisdom. Never think it’s impossible because in Christ anything is possible (Philippians 4:13). God has transformed me into the person I am now and am so grateful for the things he has done for me.
I was calling my ex-girlfriend so that I can speak to the kids and every time I use to call she use to remind me of the things I did to her. All I could do was humble myself because I am a new creation in Christ (2Cor 5:17). She continued to say the same things until I told her that I wanted to leave the past in the past because I wanted to see the future (Philippians 3:13). When Satan tries to discourage me and bring me down I think of scriptures. “Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world” (1John 4:4). God has brought my family closer to me, I was blind and didn’t accept any help they wanted to give me, but now I live to have a joyful life with faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:20). Thank you Lord!

Meeting transformed people is one of the joys of prison ministry. When Ramon first stated to come to our bible study at Berk’s County Prison we were impressed with his quiet sincerity and his positive attitude. But as time went on, we began to see that he had a dynamic impact on other inmates. Over the course of each week, he would witness to other guys, study the Bible and pray with them, and encourage them however he could. We would see the results on Bible study nights when our attendance would be up or guys would share testimonies about how Ramon had encouraged them that week.
We were very happy when he told us that he had been accepted by Freedom Gate. Transitioning to the outside world is perilous for inmates, especially if they have been in the system for very long. We always feel better when guys have a stable, positive, Christian environment to go to when they come out. It was great to see Ramon when Junior and some of the residents at Freedom Gate visited our church a few weeks ago. We are thankful for the work Freedom Gate does and for the help they are giving Ramon and his friends right now. It is a privilege to be able to support their ministry.

Ramon has been a blessing since entering into Freedom Gate. He is really trying to walk the walk and staying focused keeping his eyes on Jesus. He shares his struggles and his
victories with me. He is a testimony to the other men in the house. He has the joy of the Lord and is always willing to help out beyond his calling. Besides the Bible studies and church
attendance, he attends more services. It is not always easy for him but he keeps pressing on
towards the goal (Philippians 3:14). He shared with me that he was just waiting in prison to come into Freedom Gate. All the other inmates use to ask him if he wasn’t anxious to get out and he would just tell them that he is waiting on the Lord to release me to Freedom Gate.
Pray for Ramon and the other men who’s name are written on the newsletters, it is only through the power of God that they will be able to stand firm and strong.

Thank you for your prayers and support and I hope to see you in person on September 24, 2004 for the Fall
Banquet.

In His service,

Junior Oriol
